Naturopathy- What is it?
Naturopathy is a wholistic healthcare system that is based on the principles of:
*Do no harm- which means we aim to use medicine that is least invasive and has least side effects to your body
*Treat the causes of disease, by identifying and removing the underlying causes of illness, rather than suppressing symptoms.
*To educate patients on the principles of healthy living and preventative medicine, and encouraging you to take responsibility for your health.
*To heal the whole person through individualized treatment, by understanding the unique physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental and social factors that contribute to illness, and customizing treatment protocols to you as an individual.
*To emphasize prevention, by partnering with the patient to assess risk factors and recommend appropriate naturopathic interventions to maintain health and prevent illness.
*To support the healing power of the body, by recognizing and removing obstacles to the body's inherent self-healing process.
The naturopath at Mothering Care explores your current health status and uses the least invasive yet effective methods aimed to rectify imbalances.
Methods such as diet and lifestyle reccomendations, herbal mixtures, vitamin or mineral supplementation and celloids are used.
Naturopathy is especially effective for gastro-intestinal disturbances; such as IBS, reflux/heartburn, constipation/diarrhoea , bloating and helps to manage diseases like crohns, ulcerative colitis, food intolerances/allergies.
Natural medicine has also been proven effective for depression, anxiety and stress related issues. Children, pregnant and breast feeding women are generally more sensitive when it comes to pharmaceutical drugs, and therefore find natural medicine a great alternative!
